Weak airflow is worth taking seriously even when the house is still roughly comfortable, because a blower fighting a restriction is a blower wearing itself out. The cheap fix now is usually a filter. The expensive fix later is a motor.
What to check yourself first
Worth five minutes before you call anybody. Sometimes it's the whole problem, and when it isn't, you've told us something useful.
- Pull the filter and hold it up to a light. If light doesn't pass, that's your answer.
- Walk the house — are some rooms fine and others dead? That points at ducts.
- Make sure supply and return vents aren't blocked by furniture or rugs.
New filter and it's still weak? That's a service call. Starving a blower shortens its life.
